Aussie Travel Website Kicking A** in Asia

AdventureHoney

On a mission to kill ‘meh’ travel experiences and replace them with ‘wow’ experiences, Aussie travel website AdventureHoney is expanding to more countries in South East Asia.

CEO and killer of all things ‘meh,’ Chris Ball, says: “Every person we save from having to sit on a ridiculous double-decker bus with a heap of tourists is a good day!”

WHAT IS IT AND WHAT HAS IT ACHIEVED?

Launching at the start of 2013 and focused exclusively on Thailand, AdventureHoney is an online marketplace for cool things to do in developing countries.

This week it starts selling experiences in the Philippines, Burma, Cambodia and Laos.

“Travelers have sites such as skyscanner to book flights and wotif to book accommodation but where do they go to find authentic, cool things to do when they arrive there?  AdventureHoney fills that gap.”

AdventureHoney is growing impressively. In less than 12 months, the AdventureHoney experiences marketplace fielded bookings from every English-speaking nation and, by the end of 2013, will sell tours and activities in seven Asian destinations.

WHY IS IT WORKING?

So, why do travelers use AdventureHoney?

Mr Ball cites three key drivers:

1. Awesome tours & activities. Travelers know that, when they visit AdventureHoney, they will find authentic, cool things to do.  For example, rather than riding around for 30 minutes in a basket on top of an exploited elephant, AdventureHoney travellers hang out with rescued elephants in a refuge near Chiang Mai.  Here they learn to wash, feed and care for these amazing creatures.

2.
Safety
. Booking on often dodgy websites overseas is a big barrier.  Waiting until you get there is just as risky.  If a traveler can book through a trusted medium with a money-back guarantee, it replaces risk with certainty.

3.
Cost effective
. Cheaper than traditional agents and not a cent more than if you paid direct with the local operator when you arrive there.

WHAT'S NEXT?
So what’s next for this little Aussie online upstart?

“In 2014, AdventureHoney will expand its horizons to include Latin America and then Africa.  AdventureHoney will be where the world goes online to find and safely book cool things to do in developing countries across the globe.”
