Aussie cycling holidays – the new travel boom for 2023

Australian Cycle Tours launched mid-pandemic in September 2020 to give Australians the chance to discover the best of their own backyard on two wheels.

The Covid bike boom of 2020 to 2022 saw sales of bicycles double in Australia with 1.7 million bikes shipped into the country in 2021 (Bike Industry Australia). When lockdown hit, everyone went biking.

The World Expeditions Travel Group's Australian Cycle Tours strategically launched in September 2020 to give bike loving Australians the chance to discover the best of their own country on a cycle adventure for all fitness, skill and adventure levels.

Keen bikers can choose from guided or self-guided itineraries in national parks, bitumen back roads, multi day experiences, pedal power and e-bike. Best of all, each trip offering is graded – from  trips that are easy all the way up to challenging so you'll always know the fitness requirements.

Choose from the Central West to the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales, Kakadu in the Top End, the hills of Tasmania, the rail trails of Victoria and even Magnetic Island in Queensland.

Australian Cycle Tours is all about fun and adventure in a safe supported environment in the great outdoors.

Featured cycle tour

At the forefront of Australian Cycle Tours' innovative program is the four day self-guided Wollemi National Park and Surrounds Trip just 3 and a half hours from Sydney. The trip includes the use of an e-bike to explore the ancestral home of the Indigenous Dabee Clan and the Wiradjuri people. Cyclists will meander through the Rylstone district including historical Kandos “the town that built Sydney” thanks to the region's limestone.

Traverse quiet backroads and pastoral sheep country to Gunguddy to experience classic Wollemi scenery of escarpments, gorges and wildlife by kayak, on a hiking trail through pagoda-like scenery and during an Indigenous immersion walk. Rounding off this outstanding active experience is visits to vineyards, museums and art galleries and sampling the excellent local cuisine.

From AUD$1250 including 2 nights farm stay and 2 nights in a local hotel, four breakfasts, two lunches, two dinners, e-bike and safety gear, luggage transfer and emergency assistance. Indigenous immersion walk and guided kayak are offered as optional extras.
