Audley Launch New Canada & Alaska Brochure

Audley Travel

Audley has launched a new Canada & Alaska brochure, focusing on wildlife, scenery, outdoor activities and family adventure as well as including the key cities. Wherever possible they have included smaller boutique hotels and bed and breakfasts in order to provide clients with a more local and authentic experience.

Highlights include:

Yacht Journeys in BC and Alaska – a thrilling way to explore the spectacular coasts of British Columbia and Alaska. Each day brings a new adventure as you cruise through isolated channels in search of whales and birds, look for foraging bears, explore abandoned aboriginal villages or go kayaking or hiking on parts of the coast that would otherwise remain inaccessible. Audley suggest a 7-10 day trip and work with two yacht companies that both offer a highly personalised service with a maximum of 16 passengers at any time.

Heli-Hiking – an incredibly exciting way to access the heart of the Rockies and unspoilt landscapes. Guests stay in remote, but very comfortable, mountain lodges and twice a day are flown to parts of the mountains that are usually inaccessible. Hikes can be tailored to any level of fitness and are led by expert guides. Audley suggest including a four day heli-hiking trip as part of an itinerary.

Bear Watching – Audley offer many bear watching opportunities depending on the type of bear guests want to see and with different accommodation options on offer. For example in British Columbia they work closely with Knight Inlet Lodge, a floating lodge that is reached by seaplane and set amongst dramatic mountain scenery. The area is home to one of the highest concentrations of grizzly bears and there are a variety of guided activities on offer including rainforest walks, sea kayaking, whale watching and fishing. For those who want to learn about the bears in depth they suggest Great Bear Lodge which is owned and run by a very experienced naturalist and biologist with a small specialist team.

Family Holidays – Canada is ideal for a family holiday and is particularly good for active teenagers with a huge variety of outdoor activities on offer including biking, rafting, hiking and canoeing. There are also vibrant cities, ranch stays and abundant wildlife including whales, bears and moose. Audley are offering multi-day horseback camping trips in British Columbia as well as the option to take a three night survival and bushcraft course where guests learn how to build a shelter, source water, track animals, build traps, identify trees, plants and fungi and gain new navigational skills.

Newfoundland – Audley have included the newly opened Fogo Island Inn, located off the northeast coast of Newfoundland. This striking, modern hotel is part of a community-based project and has been developed by local artists. Its imposing shoreline position allows visitors to appreciate the untouched beauty and solitude of this region with the opportunity to see icebergs, hike along hidden beaches and view the local wildlife.

Arctic Camps – for a truly exclusive adventure Audley offer the chance to stay on the ice in an Arctic Camp north of Baffin Island. The camp moves location depending on the ice floe, shelter and proximity to wildlife, particularly the polar bears. The guides are local Inuit people who know the terrain exceptionally well and will ensure you have an incredibly memorable experience.
