Audley Expand Their Hidden Beaches Programme

Audley Travel

Audley have expanded their Hidden Beaches programme to include a wider choice of properties worldwide. Some of these have recently opened while others are simply new to the brochure, chosen because they have a special quality that sets them apart.

Hidden Beaches includes hotels in truly remote regions such as the Andaman Islands as well as firm favourites including Mauritius and Thailand.  One of Audley's favourite combinations is to spend a few days in the Chamarel mountains of Mauritius followed by time at a boutique hotel on the coast.

Audley also suggest alternatives to the traditional beach destinations for those looking to save costs or to have a more authentic experience. For example they recommend Zanzibar as an alternative to the Maldives staying at Breezes Beach Club & Spa.  It has the same white sands and azure sea as the Maldives but for a fraction of the cost with an 8 night trip costing from £1448 per person.

Audley have found that most of their clients want to explore a little further afield even on a break where the emphasis is on relaxation.  With this in mind they have twinned each beach property with a few days' optional exploration in another destination.  A symbol next to each option gives an indication of what type of experience to expect, divided into four categories: Culture; Wildlife or Scenery; City and Beach hopping.  Examples include combining Zanzibar with a safari in Tanzania; Song Saa resort in Cambodia with a trip to see the temples of Angkor and a pousada in Brazil with a city break in Rio.

Some of the top new properties on offer include:

Bangsak Village, Khao Lak, Thailand – a chance to see the beaches of Thailand as they used to be. This small boutique resort has an unassuming, rustic appeal.  Audley suggest combining it with a few nights in Chiang Mai A ten night trip with three nights in Chiang Mai and seven nights at Bangsak Village costs from £1648 per person to include return flights, transfers and breakfasts.

The Andaman, Langkawi – The Andaman is one of a selection of properties that Audley have included in order to offer a superb beach option at great value with prices at under £2,000 for ten nights.  Set on the spectacular golden sands of Datai Bay and surrounded by ancient rainforest and mangroves, it is wonderfully secluded.    Audley suggest combining it with Kuala Lumpur to get the contrast of having a few nights in a vibrant city.  A ten night trip to combine three nights in Kuala Lumpur with seven nights at the Andaman costs from £1633 per person to include flights, transfers and breakfasts.

The Four Seasons, Lanai, Hawaii – Audley have focused on beach destinations on the less developed islands of the Hawaiian archipelago including Lanai, Kauai and Hawaii, otherwise known as 'The Big Island'.   They suggest combining these with stays in Los Angeles or San Francisco or with visiting the Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island.

L'Archipel, Seychelles – this beautiful small boutique hotel offers a wonderfully peaceful location in the northeast of Praslin island. Audley suggest combining it with a stay on La Digue for a beach hopping itinerary which is also good value for the Seychelles. A ten night trip costs from £2297 to include three nights on La Digue and seven nights at L'Archipel including flights, transfers and breakfasts.
