Audio Publishers Association Celebrate Audiobooks at Annual Gala

Audio Publishers Association

On June 4, the Audio Publishers Association (APA) will hold its 9th annual award ceremony, Audies, at 6:30 PM in the Winter Garden Room at the Harold Washington Public Library Center in Chicago. Considered the Oscar of the audio publishing industry, this gala event will honor excellence in audio publishing in 26 categories including Audiobook of the Year. For the first time, APA will recognize one title as the Audiobook of the Year. Finalists are chosen based on content, production quality, packaging, and narration.

The emcee for the evenings announcements is Emmy and Tony winner, Edward Herrmann. Herrmann is known as one of the best audiobook readers in the business. Edward Herrmann is a frequent Audie finalist and winner. He brings his expertise and passion for audiobooks to this years award ceremony. His long list of audiobook credits include A Beautiful Mind by Sylvia Nasar (winner of a 2003 Audie), The Apocalypse Watch by Robert Ludlum, The Path Between The Seas by David McCullough, and Hornets Nest by Jimmy Carter. Best known for his portrayal of American president Franklin Deleno Roosevelt in Eleanor and Franklin and again in Eleanor and Franklin: The White House Years, Herrmann currently can be seen on The Gilmore Girls as patriarch Richard Gilmore.

The Audie Awards is the only awards program entirely devoted to recognizing distinction in audiobooks and spoken word entertainment in the U.S.
