Auckland Conventions Venues and Events plans to re-open the doors to the ASB Theatre, Aotea Centre, New Zealand's premier tiered-seat auditorium, on April 2 2012, following an extensive refurbishment project that has transformed this well-known Auckland venue.

"We are extremely excited about re-opening the theatre for use by our customers, as we now boast one of Auckland's most modern conventions venues," says Mr Mohamed Mansour, Director of Auckland Conventions Venues and Events.

"The transformed ASB Theatre caters to a broad range of customer needs and requirements. Its contemporary design ensures it is even better equipped to provide memorable experiences and events such as large conventions, graduations, awards ceremonies and corporate functions."

Mr Mansour adds that improvements within the theatre include: an enhanced acoustic experience; contemporary aesthetics; improved seating and sightlines; and improved house lighting, air-conditioning, and mobility access. One of the most anticipated new features is the capability to host a seated dinner for 160 guests, inside the theatre at the base of the stage.

ASB Theatre, Aotea Centre also holds more than 2,000 people in plenary session and is connected to 11 other spaces within the Aotea Centre, offering considerable flexibility to event planners.

 "It is an ideal venue for those attending large events, as Aotea Centre is supported by a range of on-site services such as free WiFi and a modern, popular café, as well as numerous external accommodation, recreational and entertainment facilities," says Mr Mansour.

"Being at the heart of Auckland's CBD also makes the theatre an excellent venue to host large conventions as the location provides easy access to the city's parking, transport and infrastructure.

"We anticipate a great level of interest in the theatre and are looking forward to offering our customers the opportunity to host some unique events at the ASB Theatre, Aotea Centre."

Renowned for hosting some of Auckland's top performing arts events, ASB Theatre, Aotea Centre has also been home to prestigious international conventions such as SIOP 2011 and WFBSC World Congress 2011.
