Attractions, Marking Evolution From 'Behind the Scenes' Tour to World-Class Theme Park and Entertainment Destination

Universal Studios Hollywood

With the introduction of an indoor roller coaster thats been hailed as one of the worlds most exciting and sophisticated thrill rides, Universal Studios Hollywood has fully evolved from its origins as an authentic behind-the-scenes Hollywood studio tour into a world-class theme park and entertainment center, building on a four-decade history as one of Americas premiere entertainment and family-friendly destinations. The arrival of the new cutting-edge roller coaster, Revenge of the MummyThe Ride, as well as a new movie-based attraction, Van Helsing: Fortress Dracula, the continuing popularity of such attractions as Shrek 4-D, Jurassic ParkThe Ride and Terminator 2:3D, and the introduction of new premium ticket products reinforce Universal Studios Hollywoods standing as a world-class movie-based theme park experience.

Although the thrill rides and attractions have become increasingly more sophisticated, the famous Studio Tour remains an essential element for visitors from throughout the world. Now running daily in Spanish and hosted by popular television personality Maria Celeste, the Studio Tour en Espanol takes guests into the heart of the worlds biggest and busiest studio, passing the soundstages and movie sets where filmmakers, celebrities and technicians continue to create many of the worlds most famous movie and television productions.

Universal Studios Hollywood has also expanded its ticket packages with new products such as the Front-of-the Line pass and the VIP Experience. The Front of the Line pass offers guests priority-entry privileges at all rides and attractions, reserved seating at all shows and behind-the-scenes admittance at key popular attractions. The popular VIP Experience steers guests through the famed studios backlot in groups of 15 persons or less aboard comfortable, specially designed trolleys where theyll visit Universals world-famous prop warehouse, working soundstages and enjoy the unique opportunity to disembark and stroll along an array of classic movie sets. In addition, guests also enjoy escorted, hassle-free front-of-the-line privileges at most of Universal Studios Hollywood attractions.

Although its beginnings in 1964 were modest, the Universal Studios Tour, as the theme park was then known, was a Hollywood hit from the very start, taking members of the public for the first time behind studio walls, tapping into a well of fascination with all things pertaining to moviemaking.

Since then, Universal Studios Hollywood has transformed the landscape of a simple behind-the-scenes look at Hollywood magic into a thrilling, adrenaline-producing theme park where one-of-a-kind rides and attractions take guests beyond the dimensions of a movie screen and into a three-dimensional world of motion picture magic. Opened June 2004, Revenge of the MummyThe Ride, the theme parks newest attraction and first roller coaster, breaks new ground as the first indoor ride in history to fuse roller coaster technology with computer-generated imagery and other movie-based storytelling techniques to hurtle guests through authenticated Egyptian catacombs and into the spine-tingling world of the Mummy movies. Also new in 2004, Van Helsing: Fortress Dracula, resurrects Transylvanias infamous residents in a walk-through experience, mirroring the spine-chilling intensity and suspense of the summer blockbuster film. Universal Studios Hollywood is the world's largest movie studio and theme park. Featuring such unique and groundbreaking attractions as "Revenge of the Mummy-The Ride," "Shrek 4-D," "Terminator 2: 3D," "Jurassic Park-The Ride" and the world-renowned behind-the-scenes "Studio Tour," Universal Studios Hollywood has matured into a full day, movie-based theme park.
