Artists' Exposition Marks Grand Opening of The Hunting Lodge, a Luxurious Holiday Rental from Cortijo El Carligto, "Private Andalucian Hideaway"

Cortijo El Carligto

The June, 2014 launch of The Hunting Lodge, companion rental property to triple Conde Nast Traveler Gold Listed Cortijo El Carligto, exhibits original artworks from local Andalucían artists Anton Dijkgraaf and Sylvia Keppel.

In four years of operation as a luxury rental property in Andalucia, Cortijo El Carligto has been nominated for three consecutive years to the Conde Nast Traveler Gold List and been featured in many of the industry's top travel magazines and papers including Travel + Leisure, Conde Nast Traveler (Spain) and Conde Nast Traveller (UK), The Sunday Times Travel and The Wall Street Journal (see press). With praise for El Carligto in the press including such quips as, “the definition of rustic elegance,” “a new standard for the private luxury villa rental,” and “idyllic rustic, chic setting,” The opening of the companion property, The Hunting Lodge, has been much anticipated.

Whereas El Carligto emerged as a luxurious renovation of a rustic four bedroom farmstead, The Hunting Lodge allows for a more contemporary style, with an eclectic mix of art deco and classic design pieces though the massive open plan living area, bespoke animal skin rugs and upholstered armchairs, and stark elegance from swathes of exquisite marble in the three en-suite bathrooms. An overall bohemian atmosphere transpires, with early twentieth century literature to couple with the period furniture, a Gaudi inspired outdoor cooking console with a combined fireplace, barbecue, bread oven and tandoori oven, and especially, the unique artwork of Anton Dijkgraaf and Sylvia Keppel.

Originally from the Netherlands, Dijkgraaf and Keppel both have established distinguished careers as artists and travel photographers/writers. Now living and crafting their work in Andalucia, from a neighbouring property to El Carligto, the artists are displaying select pieces in The Hunting Lodge to adorn the grand opening. The pieces will remain on display and available to purchase by guests at the exclusive holiday retreat, while the artists also offer private photography and art lessons.

Open to guests from 14 June, The Hunting Lodge, sleeping six in three en-suite bedrooms, rents from €3000 a week, while El Carligto rents from €5000 a week for up to eight guests. The properties can be rented together for ultimately exclusive use of the ten acre estate for up to fourteen people. A wide range of services, including gourmet private chef service and spa treatments, are available on site.
