Around Italy with Baglioni Hotel London's New Afternoon Tea
Bringing the heritage of the Baglioni brand to the capital, Baglioni Hotel London has incorporated culinary traditions and flavours from Italy in the quintessentially British tea menu.
The new Afternoon Tea with an Italian Twist menu takes inspiration from Italian regional products.
Sandwiches have been updated using the tramezzino bread, delicious white bread made even softer by the use of milk in the recipe. Brunello offers a selection of tramezzini with capricciosa salad, grilled vegetables – both from Veneto, swordfish, cream cheese and chives from Sicily & gorgonzola cheese and walnuts from Lombardia.
New to the menu are also brioche bread with caciocavallo cheese and caramelised onion from Puglia and with mortadella and pistachio from Emilia Romagna.
Those with a sweet tooth will be delighted as the new menu features chocolate praline filled with mascarpone cheese from Lombardy, panna cotta with wild berries from Veneto, a new selection of Italian biscuits La Pesca – with Alkermes and chocolate from Tuscany – and Brutti ma Buoni – with hazelnut from Piedmont. Sicily is represented by cannoli filled with ricotta cheese and chocolate chips and warm brioche.
But afternoon tea wouldn't be the same without scones. There are both plain and raisin varieties available, complemented by raspberry jam, clotted cream and Italian favourite, Nutella. All of this is rounded off nicely with a glass of Ferrari Sparkling Wine.
The new Afternoon Tea with an Italian Twist is available from £42 per person.
