One of Argyll's top coastal hotels is teaming up with an Oban-based sea tours company to offer visitors new adventures around the region's coastline and islands by boat this summer.
The Pierhouse Hotel at Port Appin is working with local experts, Coastal Connection, to provide guests with a range of sea tours to choose from including a convenient collection service by boat from the pier directly outside the hotel and from Oban harbour.
Twin brother skippers Cameron and Struan Smith have over 25 years of nautical experience and founded their company in 2008.
Private charter full-day trips to Tobermory are available for couples, families and groups of up to 12 passengers from The Pierhouse Hotel, including opportunities to see white-tailed sea eagles, seals, basking sharks, minke whales, porpoise, otters and dolphins, as well as Duart Castle.
A shorter 2.5 hour trip around the island of Lismore allows hotel guests to see the 1833 Stevenson-built lighthouse before looking for red deer, seals and white-tailed sea eagles around Lismore and the Morvern Peninsula.
Pierhouse Hotel head chef Michael Leathley can also prepare a champagne seafood extravaganza picnic for guests to take on their sealife adventure.
Prices for a 2.5 hour private charter cruise from The Pierhouse Hotel around the island of Lismore for up to 12 passengers start from £520.
Other options include a day trip to Tobermory from The Pierhouse, starting from £850 for up to 12 passengers. A full day exploring the coast around Mull, starts from £1250 for up to 12 passengers.
Boat trips to the islands of Iona or Colonsay are also available, as well as opportunities to go whale-watching, see the Corryvreckan whirlpool or head to Islay for a whisky tasting experience. There may be an additional fuel surcharge.
Tucked away on the shores of Loch Linnhe at Port Appin, The Pierhouse Hotel and renowned Scottish seafood restaurant has an established reputation as one of Argyll's most idyllic and romantic destinations. The Pierhouse Hotel restaurant has three silver stars, two AA rosettes and is one of only four Argyll restaurants included in the Michelin Guide for Great Britain and Ireland.
Menus at The Pierhouse include the freshest langoustines, mussels and lobsters harvested from Loch Linnhe and Loch Etive, as well as fine handpicked oysters from the oyster beds of Loch Creran, just 10 minutes from the hotel.
