Activity-focused families, couples and individuals can now enjoy the adrenaline rush of canyoning with Archipelago Choices' new package from just £1033pp.
There are currently 53 bolted routes in the Azores, with varying levels of difficulty, and the new Archipelago Choice package combines a number of these routes on the islands of São Miguel and Flores.
The routes provide adventure seekers with the opportunity to abseil waterfalls, jump into crystal clear pools and slide down water chutes. With a minimum age of 8yrs and no maximum, this is a great activity for all the family, particularly those with teenagers. All trips will be accompanied by a well-qualified guide, and wetsuits, helmets and all abseil equipment are provided.
Guests will stay three nights at the 4* star Hotel do Colegio in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, and spend a full day learning the basics of canyoning at either Nordeste or Ribeira Grande. They will then transfer to Flores Island, the westernmost point of Europe, which is renowned for its cascading waterfalls, stunning scenery and excellent walking trails. Based in the capital, Santa Cruz, guests will stay at the 4* Hotel das Flores, and expert guides will lead guests on two more canyoning trips, each lasting up to four hours and involving seven abseils, the longest of which is 20m.

A canyoning trip for a family of four costs £4389 in the summer(two adults and two children 8yrs+). Price includes accommodation on B&B basis (two twins at Hotel Occidental for three nights (Flores), junior suite at Royal Garden Hotel for four nights (Sao Miguel)), return flights from London to Sao Miguel, return inter-island flights (Sao Miguel/Flores/Sao Miguel), three canyoning trips and all airport/hotel transfers.
