Dr Chris Brown visits the Bungle Bungle Ranges with APT 12 Sep 2013
APT Takes TEN's The Living Room on a Kimberley Wilderness Adventure

APT - Australian Pacific Touring

Tune into this week's episode of TEN's leading lifestyle show, The Living Room (Friday 13 September, 7.30pm), and you'll see travel presenter Dr Chris Brown taking a path less travelled as he explores the untouched wilderness of Australia's last frontier, the Kimberley.

Travelling with award-winning Kimberley specialist, APT's Kimberley Wilderness Adventures (KWA) on one of its exclusive Air Safaris, Chris's trip included spending two nights at the company's Bungle Bungle Wilderness Camp, a luxury tented camp situated in the heart of Purnululu National Park.

Joined by long standing local APT guide Rusty, Chris took guided walks through Echidna Chasm and the iconic beehive domes, taking in Piccaninny Creek and Cathedral Gorge, as well as learning about bush tucker, bush medicine and the area's significance to local Aborigines.

He also enjoyed a breathtaking helicopter flight over the Bungle Bungles.

Chris then flew over dramatic landscapes to his next destination, APT's Mitchell Falls Wilderness Camp, where he spent two nights. Members of the local Kandiwal Aboriginal community offered to be his guide and led Chris on a hike of Little Mertens Falls, Big Mertens Falls and then Mitchell Falls, sharing their beliefs, the area's rich cultural history and various rarely seen Aboriginal art sites along the way.

The hike was topped off by an exhilarating helicopter flight over Mitchell Falls.

Taking his final flight from Mitchell Falls to Broome, Chris concluding his journey with a high-powered boat ride through Horizontal Falls.

This was followed by a plunge into local waters, swimming in a crocodile- and shark-proof cage to gain a close up look at the bountiful marine life.

Commenting on whether the Kimberley met with his expectations, Chris said, "The sights are breathtaking, but the emotions are the surprise. I actually felt quite overpowered and even intimidated by the big orange and black domes of the Bungle Bungles, while there's a real sense of exhilaration on Cable Beach in Broome, knowing you're standing on the very western edge of Australia."

To see highlights of Chris's trip with APT, watch The Living Room on Friday 13th September at 7.30pm on TEN.
