Britain's favourite seaside holiday provider Haven and the Cornwall Wildlife Trust have made exploring the largest sand dune system in Cornwall a breeze with their free 'Dune Detectives' app. Discover this picturesque part of the Great British coast which is home to the magnificent scenic shots seen on BBC's Poldark and is renowned for its miles of sandy beaches.

The Dune Detectives app is the result of a partnership between the Cornwall Wildlife Trust, Haven's Perran Sands Holiday Park and a Cornish app company called SWOOP. This interactive and easy to use app has been designed to guide visitors along a choice of five different routes through the dramatic and expansive sand dunes.

“It's been an enjoyable challenge getting to grips with modern technology,” says Jon Cripps, Penhale Dunes Ranger for Cornwall Wildlife Trust.  “I hope Dune Detectives will enable locals and visitors to have a great time in the dunes and learn a bit along the way.”

The sand dune system, located on the doorstep of Haven's Perran Sands Holiday Park, is home to the largest dunes in Cornwall covering around 650 hectares and are in fact the highest in Britain. These types of coastal locations are often teaming with wildlife and Perran Sands is no different. It is home to a huge array of wildlife including skylarks, razorbills, garden tiger moths and even the quirkily named scrambled egg lichen.

This seaside stylised app utilises the phones GPS so any visitor can keep a track on exactly where they are at any time on an interactive map. It also means the app can provide visitors with engaging games to play and fascinating facts at certain points throughout their journey, perfect for keeping the whole family entertained.
