Ottawa, ON; May 23, 2017 – With the release of 'Anne with an E' on Netflix earlier this month, adventure travel specialist Great Canadian Trails is encouraging travellers to experience the story's picturesque environment for themselves. Set in Prince Edward Island (PEI), the story calls attention to Canada's smallest province on the country's Atlantic coast.

“Anne has been attracting visitors to PEI for decades,” said Nathalie Gauthier, Manager of Great Canadian Trails. “This latest version of her story is an excellent reminder of all the beauty and the character the province has to offer.”

Based on Lucy Maud Montgomery's 1908 novel Anne of Green Gables, the series tells the story of an imaginative orphan girl who is taken into the town of Avonlea by middle-aged siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert. Having sold over 50 million copies and translated into more than 36 languages, it is a classic in Canadian literature and culture and a timeless icon of the province.

Known also for its friendly locals, red sand beaches, potato farms, and lobster dinners, PEI is a popular destination among domestic and international visitors alike. Great Canadian Trails offer a fantastic itinerary for travellers with high expectations on their quests to actively explore the country's idyllic, east coast province.

Prince Edward Island by Bike

7 days | Self-guided | June – September

Known locally as the 'tip-to-tip' trail, the Confederation Trail reaches from the far west to the far east coast of the island and is a cyclists dream. Developed on abandoned railway line, it meanders through rich farmland, hardwood forest, wetlands, rivers, small towns, and charming old railway stations. Combining this with some of the province's most well-loved areas, including the stunning Gulf Shore Ways and Green Gables, this itinerary is the perfect way to explore PEI. Indeed, the gentle terrain and generous amount of time lets travellers explore artisanal shops, sample local restaurants, relax on the beaches, and visit historical sights. Whatever their interests, the beautiful landscapes and friendly faces leave every visitor dreaming of returning to the red island.

On the cutting edge of adventure travel, Great Canadian Trails crafts creative itineraries that cater to the individual needs and styles of its travellers. For detailed information and bookings, visit http://www.greatcanadiantrails.com/.
