Cairns First Spa And All-suite Beachfront Resort Scores Highly On Well-presented Suites, Housekeeping, Dcor & Furnishings, Lush Gardens & Surroundings
Palm Cove, Cairns, Queensland, 2 October 2001 Within a year of its inception, Angsana Resort & Spa Great Barrier Reef has joined the elite group of high quality spa resorts in Australia. The resort was recently granted a 5-star rating by the AAA (Australian Automobile Association) Tourism, the national tourism body of the Australian motoring organizations. Angsana achieved exceptional results for its well-presented and modern suites; excellent housekeeping, stunning dcor and furnishings, lush gardens and breathtaking surroundings. The resort, formerly known as The Allamanda, has gone through a complete overhaul worth over A$4 million and was successfully re-launched as Angsana Resort & Spa, Great Barrier Reef in December 2000.
Mr Edwin Yeow, Joint Managing Director of Angsana Resorts & Spa said, We are overjoyed that Angsana Great Barrier Reef has been elevated to the status of a 5-star luxury resort only within its first year of operations. Angsana Spa has also been met with overwhelming response since its opening in Cairns. Heartened by this success, we will be adding new sea-facing treatment rooms and an exciting new spa menu in Jan 2001 for our valued clientele.
AAA Tourism is the only certification authority for hotels in Australia using the star grading system. Conducted every 12 months, an independent assessor patiently inspects more than 300 aspects of the hotel covering facilities, amenities, maintenance and cleanliness. Precise and specific details such as convenient switch locations, condition of soap holders in the bathroom and whether mirrors are provided in all the bedrooms, are rated in the stringent survey. A 5-star status is awarded for a hotel achieving a score of between 825 and 903 points.
AAA Tourism defines a 5 star property as an international standard establishment, which offers superior appointments, furnishings and dcor, a variety of room styles and an extensive range of facilities and services. The choice of facilities and services would include dining facilities, housekeeping, valet parking services, porterage, concierge services and conference facilities.
