Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villa Resort & Spa has impressively scooped two Thailand national awards at this year's International Hotel Awards.

The International Hotel Awards recognises hotels and hospitality-related companies that are the best of the best in the luxury hotel industry. Entries from more than 50 countries across Asia Pacific, Europe, the Americas, Arabia, Africa and the UK were judged by a prestigious panel chaired by the esteemed Sir David Michels, who is a member of the Board of Directors of Jumeirah Hotels, and also Chairman of London & Capital and Michels & Taylor.

Shining as a luxury hotel star amidst stiff competition, Anantara Rasananda won both the Resort Hotel and Spa Hotel awards for Thailand. Now, having proving itself as the cream of the crop in these categories nationally, Anantara Rasananda will compete against other top scoring hotels from regions all over the world, with the national and world's winners announced at a gala presentation dinner at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square on Monday 26th January 2015.

Markus Krebs, General Manager at Anantara Rasananda, says, “This is a huge achievement for us and we are very proud to have received not one, but two, prestigious accolades. Of course none of this would be possible without the dedication and hard work of all the resort's associates, each of whom is passionate about providing guests with the very best Anantara experience.”

Stuart Shield, President of the International Hotel Awards, says, “This is the fourth year of the International Hotel Awards. Its aim is to highlight excellence in the luxury hotel industry and praise the outstanding levels of service and style. The competition also boasts specialist categories to further spotlight the most outstanding spa, convention and golf hotels. Smaller luxury hotels are also featured as these specialise in delivering a more intimate environment for those seeking a quieter and more relaxing experience.

“With many five-star hotels offering an exemplary service on a 24-hour a day basis, we feel honoured to be able to highlight those that are making an art out of the process. They really do deserve recognition for all the effort they put into their business as well as their overall presentation and innovation.”

Editor's Note:

For hundreds of years throughout Thailand, people would leave a jar of water outside their house to provide refreshment and extend a welcome to the passing traveller.  Anantara is taken from an ancient Sanskrit word that means 'without end', symbolising this sharing of water and the heartfelt hospitality that lies at the core of every Anantara experience.

From lush jungles to pristine beaches and legendary deserts to cosmopolitan cities, Anantara currently boasts over 30 stunning properties located in Thailand, the Maldives, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, Cambodia, Mozambique and the United Arab Emirates, with future properties to open in Mozambique, China, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Laos, Qatar and Oman.
