Based on the success of last year�s Thanksgiving festivities, the quintessentially American village of Cooperstown invites visitors to enjoy an old-style Thanksgiving weekend, where families can celebrate with traditional meals, family-friendly activities and festivities. The Otesaga Hotel Resort The Grand Dame Otesaga resort, on the shore of Lake Otsego, will offer a special Family Thanksgiving Weekend Celebration package. Available November 24-28, 2004, two-night packages start at $500, based on double occupancy, subject to availability, service charge and tax not included. There is an additional charge of $80 per child ages 7-18, children six and under stay free. Additional nights are available at special reduced rates. With a complimentary Family Fun Activity Sheet in-hand, visitors can embark on an educational adventure through Filer�s Corner Schoolhouse; experience the traditions of master craftspeople at the Blacksmith�s Shop and Seneca Log House, where children can make decorative souvenirs; take a 19th-century shopping excursion through Todd�s General Store; and observe rare breeds of farm animals at the Lippitt Farmhouse and Farmyard. The Farmers� Museum will reopen for the Thanksgiving weekend, Friday, November 26 � November 27, 2004, from 10 a.m. � 4 p.m. Admission to The Farmers� Museum is $9 for adults; $4 for children 7-12; and children six and under and New York State Historical Association members are free. Fenimore Art Museum View the first renditions of famous contemporary American icons, including modern-day Santa, at the Christmas with Thomas Nast exhibit. Families visiting the Fenimore Art Museum are welcome to view an assortment of graphics by Thomas Nast, America�s first great political cartoonist and inventor of celebrated American icons, including the Democratic Donkey, Republican Elephant, Uncle Sam and Columbia. On Friday, November 26th, at 5:30 p.m., Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive aboard a traditional horse-drawn wagon to take up residence in their Victorian Cottage in Pioneer Park. If they�ve been nice, children can visit with Santa and ask for gifts. There will be a tree-lighting ceremony, carol singing, free wagon rides and hot cocoa. The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is closed on Thanksgiving Day, but open all weekend from 9:00 a.m. � 5:00 p.m. Ticket prices are $9.50 for adults and children 13 and above; $8.00 for seniors (65 and over) and those holding current memberships in the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and AMVets organizations; $4.00 for children ages 7 - 12; and Friends of the Hall of Fame members are always admitted free of charge.
