After Brazilians, Americans bought more tickets than any other nation for this summer's World Cup
New York, April 15, 2014 – There are less than 60 days until the start of the 2014 World Cup, and fans from all over the world have reserved a record number of tickets. But the biggest surprise comes from the United States: Americans have purchased 172,880 tickets, more than the combined number of tickets requested by Germans, British and French fans.
Team America may have a tough bracket, in their seventh straight World Cup appearance, with games against Germany, Portugal and Ghana. But fans planning to follow The Yanks during the first round of games will be watching at some remarkable locations. Starting in Natal on June 16, the US will also play in the Amazon city of Manaus on June 22 and the beautiful port city of Recife on June 26.
Even if visitors do not get tickets to see the games at the stadiums, they should still be able to have a fantastic time in Brazil. There will be many places to watch the games with local Brazilians, such as bars, restaurants, by beaches and parks. Also. as in years past, FIFA has announced that there will be Fan Fests in the twelve hosting cities. Fan Fests are official spaces for the public viewing of the tournament's matches, bringing together thousands of supporters, even if the match is taking place elsewhere.
No matter the outcome of the first round, Americans can be sure that they will experience the warmth of the Brazilian people during the most exciting sports event in the world.
