America West Airlines (NYSE:AWA) today announced the schedule for its new nonstop flight between Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and the airline�s Phoenix hub. The first segment of the new roundtrip flight departs Phoenix at 12:17 p.m. PDT and arrives at 7:46 p.m. EDT, with the return flight departing Washington National at 7:18 a.m. EDT and arriving at 9:16 a.m. PDT. The new flight gives America West a convenient pattern of service with three daily nonstop flights between Washington National and Phoenix. The flight schedule, listed below, is timed to accommodate business travelers at both destinations.

Long-haul flights to and from Washington National are subject to federal government restrictions, and America West is the only airline that has been granted authority to operate nonstop flights between Washington National and Phoenix. The new flight was awarded to the airline last month by the U.S. Department of Transportation in conjunction with the Vision 100 � Century of Aviation Reauthorization Act, in which Congress called for the creation of more network competition from Washington National to western destinations by new-entrant, low-fare carriers. America West�s route system serves more passengers in the western United States than any of the new-entrant network carriers. At its hubs, America West provides significant connecting opportunities to 46 additional markets in the western United States.
