America West Airlines (NYSE: AWA) announced today that it will initiate new mainline jet service between its Las Vegas hub and Albuquerque, N.M. on March 1, 2005. The airline continues to expand service in Las Vegas in 2005 after adding service to 15 new cities in 2004 and now offers service to 55 nonstop destinations, more than any other carrier in Las Vegas. The airline also announced today that it will initiate new frequencies in Burbank, Oakland and Ontario, Calif. in December 2004 and February 2005. America West Express, operated by Mesa Airlines, will provide these new flights using the 86-seat Canadair Regional Jet. (Flight schedules are listed below.)

Also today, America West initiated nonstop service between Las Vegas and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Yesterday the airline began service between Las Vegas and Los Cabos, Mexico. Service to those cities is currently being offered four days a week, but will increase to daily service as of Feb. 11, 2005. Additionally yesterday, the airline initiated new frequencies to Denver; Los Angeles; Oakland, Calif.; San Jose, Calif.; Orange County, Calif.; Chicago/O'Hare; Portland, Ore.; Seattle; Salt Lake City; Minneapolis/St. Paul and Vancouver, British Columbia.
