A pitch perfect Stellenbosch township ensemble will descend on Jozi, when the vibrant AmaZink Live serenades a glitzy crowd at Stellenbosch at Summer Place – a sensory symphony of fine food, wine, music and art – on Wednesday, 15 October 2014.
This annual showcase presented by Sanlam Private Wealth in Hyde Park, is all about bringing the best of the City of Oaks to the City of Gold and this pulsating music group is one of Stellenbosch's finest exports, straight from South Africa's first Township dinner theatre in Kayamandi.
In tune with this year's theme of yesterday, today and tomorrow's masters, Gautengers are in for magical performances throughout the evening, when these six musicians add rhythm and soul to this debonair occasion of all thing epicurean, with yesteryear classics and modern hits.
What started out as an unlicensed tavern which was nearly demolished has since flourished into AmaZink Live, a proudly South African musical production of culturally authentic performances by super talented artists residing in Kayamandi.
Since opening its doors in 2010, AmaZink Live has been going strong, attracting people from all over the world with their breath-taking performances and vibrant personalities that ooze the township vibe. The terrifically tumultuous South African journey resonates through their music as melodious mementos of hope, courage, peace and an unbridled zest for life.
This shining AmaZink Live cast who will enthral Stellenbosch at Summer Place guests with a musical adventure of the then and now, is lead by professional performer and theatre director Ramaine Berreiro-Lloyd, celebrated for her versatility in both the genres and languages she performs. Joining her will be Joseph Tebogo Louw who people may recognise from the current SA Idols Season 10, Anele Mrali, Khanyiswa Joyi, Ashtevhann Mintoor and Lelethu Zulu.
“The entire AmaZink Live cast is assembled from Kayamandi residents with no previous performing experience. We then audition, train, work-shop and sculpt these amateurs into solid gold stars before venturing onto the theatre stage,” explains Ramaine.
The music will share the spotlight with an unsurpassed array of wines and food on the evening, unique to the country's Wine and Gourmet Capital.
Five formidable Stellenbosch chefs will each prepare a gourmet dish that will be paired with more than 70 top quality Stellenbosch wines. This all for guests to revel in, while they mingle with esteemed winemakers and estate owners in the various luxury rooms of Summer Place.
This year's impressive chef line-up includes: Michael Broughton of Terroir, Bertus Basson of Overture, Christiaan Campbell of Delaire Graff Estate, Gregory Czarnecki of Waterkloof Restaurant andTanja Kruger of Makaron Restaurant at Majeka House.
It is an exquisite culmination of classic and contemporary tastes, whilst art aficionados can feast their eyes on rare pieces from the Sanlam Art Collection – one of South Africa's finest and most extensive corporate art collections.
