To mark the 70th anniversary of D-Day and the Normandy Landings, award-winning river cruise line AmaWaterways will be offering special Normandy Beaches excursions throughout its summer 2014 programme of cruises on the river Seine.

 

The ‘D-Day Remembered’ excursion, from Caudebec-en-Caux and included in the price of the cruise, takes in the Gold and Juno beaches in the British and Canadian sectors. The first stop will be the Canadian cemetery at Beny-sur-Mer, followed by the Pegasus Monument in Ranville. Guests have free time for lunch before visiting the Juno Beach Centre, Canada’s WWII museum, with a final stop at Arromanches.  

 

Other ports of call on this cruise include Giverny, where Monet lived for 43 years, the pretty harbour of Honfleur, Conflans, Les Andelys and historic Rouen.

 

From £1,849, including seven nights’ full board, complimentary wine, beer and soft drinks with lunch and dinner, daily guided tours and excursions, free wi-fi, free use of on board bicycles and port taxes, departing March 27, 2014.
