These locations take in a wealth of stunning coastlines, moorland scenes, gorges, quaint villages, rolling and dramatic hills, panoramic views, lakes, rivers and waterfalls. In the Algarve and Andalucia guests can enjoy along with a warmer and more temperate climate some fantastic Portuguese and Spanish architecture, magnificent harbour and coastal scenes as well as delightful and picturesque natural flora and fauna.

 Alpha's holidays include studio based breaks where guests can learn to paint a specific subject or in a specific style, e.g. animals, flowers in watercolour or sea and sky in oils. Some of the trips are part location and part studio based, which involves spending time on location doing initial sketches whereby complete paintings are produced in the studio enabling the painter to focus more on the subject and achieve a more accomplished result. Others are entirely location based which normally involves getting out and about to a different location every day to take in the lovely scenery and just enjoy painting it! The duration of the holidays range from a three day studio break to four/five days in the UK to seven days in the Algarve and Andalucia locations. Whichever holiday is chosen, while the emphasis is on learning, Alpha never forget it is still a holiday! So they all have a great holiday atmosphere where like minded people can focus on a hobby they all enjoy and have fun.

 Guests that choose an Alpha painting holiday have different levels of ability from those that have never picked up a paint brush and want to learn the basics to those who are semi-professional and just want a break. The majority are at an intermediate level, but because groups are deliberately limited to twelve, the standard of painting ability really doesn't matter as there is plenty of one-on-one tuition with some of the UK's leading art tutors. Guests come either by themselves or with friends or partners, some that may also paint and others that don't. All are welcomed by Alpha, who will arrange plenty of activities and pastimes to interest non-painters such as photography, walking, golf and much more.
