All yours this Christmas… one luxury & fully catered Cumbrian barn
A brand new luxury bed & breakfast is serving up a break with a difference this Christmas and New Year by offering the best parts of both a self-catering and a hotel stay.
The Malabar, which brings a taste of the exotic to Cumbria with its Indian and Far Eastern inspired design, has created two special, relaxing festive packages aimed at groups of family and friends.
The six-bedroomed 18th century barn conversion can be hired exclusively but with all the extra benefits of a hotel stay by providing full catering for all guests. This includes complimentary homemade afternoon tea and cakes on arrival and a five-course Christmas Day dinner – taking any hassle and stress out of the festive break.
The Malabar, which sits at the foot of the picturesque and distinctive Howgill fells, opened in May 2016 and is on the edge of both the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales just two miles from the historic market town of Sedbergh.
Oozing laid back luxury and unique character throughout; The Malabar is perfect for kicking back, relaxing and unwinding. From the lounge with its feature log burner, cosy sofas, family games and honesty bar; to the dining room with two large side-by-side reclaimed teak tables, this is a place that was made for spending precious time with family and friends.
Bedrooms – including three suites - have views of the surrounding countryside, Hypnos beds and mini Roberts Radios. Bathrooms, which have feature sliding oak barn doors, have walk-in monsoon showers, brightly painted freestanding boat baths, and a generous selection of pampering toiletries from The Bath House in Sedbergh.
The Malabar is in a prime spot for lovers of the outdoors with numerous winter walks from the doorstep. It is also situated on the Dales Way – an 84-mile long distance walking route that runs from West Yorkshire to the Lake District. Secure boot and cycle storage facilities have been created from the barn's old shippons.
The four-night Christmas break (for up to 12 adults and six children) is available from £1,120 per couple and the three-night New Year break is available from £840 per couple. A minimum of four rooms must be booked for exclusive use.
The Christmas party package is based on stays from Friday 23rd December to Tuesday 27th December and includes afternoon tea with a glass of fizz on arrival, and cooked breakfasts, light lunches and 3-course evening meals each day. On Christmas Day, guests can expect Bucks Fizz with breakfast, a five-course Christmas dinner with a choice of turkey or goose, and a special Christmas gift from the owners.
The New Year party package is based on stays from Friday 30th December to Monday 2nd January and includes afternoon tea with a glass of fizz on arrival, and cooked breakfasts, light lunches and 3-course evening meals each day. A five-course meal will be served on New Year's Eve and guests can bring in the New Year celebrations with a glass of fizz and wave some sparklers on the terrace.
All menus will be arranged in advance to suit the party and served at their chosen times; including a late, long leisurely breakfast if required on New Year's Day.
Owners Graham and Fiona can also offer guided walks of the Howgill fells, cycle rides in the local area, and yoga sessions on the outdoor terrace. For more details and to book, visit http://www.themalabar.co.uk or call 015396 20200.
