Despite the turbulent times Greece finds herself going through, life on Skyros island remains as calm as the Aegean on a clear, summer's day. Atsitsa, with over 70 people on site, is bursting with energy with people exploring new possibilities, making new connections and laughing as they haven't since childhood. The food, as guests have happily testified, is 'outstanding'. See www.skyros.com/atsitsa_bay.htm.
Understandably, reading the news about developments in Greece can make people worry about what they should expect. Skyros holidays reassures its guests that they will continue to take good care of them. Firstly, soon after arrival in Athens guests are collected by private coach and taken to the transfer hotel.
The next day, the Skyros holidays transfers manager ensures that guests are collected from the hotel by private coach and taken either to the airport for the domestic flight or accompanied on the overland transfer to Skyros island. On arrival on Skyros island, guests are met at either the airport or the island's port and taken to their final holiday destination - Atsitsa or the Skyros Centre. (www.skyros.com/atsitsa_bay.htm & www.skyros.com/village_centre.htm).
The Greek banks will remain closed this week. Although the capital controls only affect the withdrawal of cash by those with Greek accounts, Skyros holidays recommend that visitors bring sufficient euros for spending money. Everything else is taken care of. If, however, guests should run short then they are welcome to use a debit or credit card locally and Skyros holidays will supply them with small amounts of euros where necessary.
Skyros holidays intend to continue raising funds for the Skyros Island Support Fund which was set up in 2013 to help local people in need during the economic crisis. They have received many letters of thanks so far for all your contributions towards fuel for schools, supplies for the local clinic and more.
In the meantime, Skyros holidays says there is even more reason to join them this summer. Every individual presence makes all the difference. Relax, explore and enjoy an amazing holiday on the Greek island of Skyros and, in a myriad of ways, you'll also be contributing to the wellbeing of this beautiful island.
