It is the restaurant that has satisfied the appetites of thousands of diners across every corner of Australia but never before has opened to the public.
This Saturday (June 1), The Ghan's premium dining carriage, The Queen Adelaide, opens for its inaugural public luncheon service at the Adelaide Parklands Terminal, Keswick.
The Queen Adelaide Restaurant has long been renowned among world travellers for its exquisite classical style and dedication to regionally-based cuisine.
Until now, its menu has only been available to patrons travelling Platinum or Gold Service on The Ghan.
The once-off Queen Adelaide 'pop-up' experience is part of The Ghan Open Day. The Open Day features on-board tours of the legendary train from 11am to 4pm, as well as entertainment, free face painting and special deals on Australia's great rail journeys.
Members of the public can book to dine on the Queen Adelaide by calling 8213 4575 or emailing carla.naismith@gsr.com.au.
A two-course luncheon including matching wines costs $50 per person and pre-payment is essential. Bookings can be made up until the morning of Saturday, June 1.
The Queen Adelaide's food and beverage manager Bradley Kerkman is available for comment.
