Perry Wilson, the Founder of Britains leading travel insurance provider,InsureandGo, is calling on Alistair Darling to meet with him, with the view of reversing the Treasurys decision to impose an additional 112% increase in Airport Duty Tax next year.
This sky-rocketing so-called green tax will cripple the aviation industry in terms of long haul flights.
Already, there are 1005 fewer weekly flights to and from Britains airports, a number set to increase as a hike in APD makes flying long-haul uneconomic for hardworking Brits.
The increase in APD next year will see British travellers, rather than spending 400 for a return flight to Australia, pay 600.
Perry Wilson says Where are the government getting their figures from? The cost of off-setting a long haul flight is 10, not 200, says Perry Wilson.
There are absolutely no environmental grounds for the increase in APD.
InsureandGos partnership with carbon management company Carbon Clear, allows customers to off-set their trip by paying between 1.60 for a short haul flight up to 10.55 for longer trips.
The government is using the environment as an excuse to make money from people travelling. Hard-working Brits are once again being fleeced by Darling. What should cost a tenner is instead up to a couple of hundred, its just not fair!
InsureandGo believe that if airline passengers can prove they have off-set their trip with a reputable carbon management company, the Airport Duty Tax imposed by the government should not apply.
Wilson has the support of the Heads of the Airlines for his campaign to stop the runaway increases in Airport Duty Tax.
InsureandGo speak with authority from the perspective of being the largest travel insurance company in the United Kingdom with a turnover of over 50m per annum.
