La Maison de Tanger

TANGIER, Morocco, August, 2021 – Welcomed by his fans who are mentioning they must renew their passport to pay a visit, Alex Henry Foster's new acquisition of La Maison de Tanger was supported by Drift Travel, Journal L'Express & FYI Music News. The latter even said:

"Popular Quebec rock auteur Alex Henry Foster is the new owner of La Maison de Tanger, a prestigious boutique hotel in Tangier, Morocco. That is the city where Foster wrote his Billboard top-charting debut album Windows in the Sky, following a period of “emotional detox” after the loss of his father. Tangier has previously hosted such creative giants as Kerouac, Tolstoy, Oscar Wilde, and Paul Bowles.”

THE VISION BEHIND ALEX'S PROJECT
Interview with Louis-Philippe Samson from Journal L'Express

AHF: We had been looking for a place where we could meet people in a spirit of sharing. Our friends are the ones who told us about La Maison de Tanger

- A CREATIVE HUB FOR ARTISTS PASSING BY TANGIER -

AHF: There are so many possibilities to develop and it was extremely important for me. We didn't want to just take back an establishment only to pursue what it was, we wanted to bring an artistic aspect to it. We have many projects; a concert venue, a cultural hub that would benefit as much the people in Tangier as the people from abroad, amongst other things. We hope that it will become a place of sharing and creativity. Tangier is a city that is significant for many artists.

LPS: The city of Tangier is located in the north of Morocco, just by the Strait of Gibraltar. On sunny days, it's possible to see the coast of Spain that is about ten miles away, But besides its scenery, the city has a rich history and a tight relationship with culture and art.

- A SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP WITH TANGIER -

LPS: The relationship of Alex Henry Foster with Tangier starts about 5 years ago. On August 2, 2016, he was arriving in the city following his father's passing. Looking for a place where he wouldn't have any benchmarks, Alex found a place that offered him exactly what he was looking for without really knowing it. What was meant to be a journey of a few weeks turned out to be almost 2 years.

AHF: There are a few places that you feel attracted to but don't know why, where the city invites you in such an incredible way that you will discover it from a totally different perspective. For me, what really helped me discover the city was that, in the end, I was also finding myself here - and I was already completely lost. I was open to living all kinds of emotions that I had been holding on since a long time for many reasons, good or bad.

- THE WELCOMING HEART OF THE CITY, ITS PEOPLE -

LPS: Besides, Alex Henry Foster realized, after a while in Tangier, many similarities between the people from Quebec [his roots] and people in Tangier.

AHF: What I like about Quebec is the openness. I think we are a community that is open, welcoming, with a desire to share and a sense of humor that is very unique to us, but that is also inviting for others. In Tangier, that's also what I found and it felt very good. In Quebec, we have this desire to share and care for others that is inclusive and generous, in Tangier, I found that spirit.

"Tangier is one of the few places left in the world where, so long as you don't proceed to robbery, violence, or some form of crude, antisocial behavior, you can do exactly what you want." - William S. Burroughs
