Air Service From Boise/Seattle to Sandpoint Begins in May

Idaho Division of Tourism

In an effort to bring air service to Sandpoint from Boise and Seattle, The Sandpoint Air Service Committee has reached an agreement with McCall Aviation, of McCall, Idaho. The first flights are scheduled for May 3, 2004, one round trip for Boise and one for Seattle. "Initially, we will have one round trip to Boise and one round trip to Seattle scheduled on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday," Dan Scott, president of McCall Air, stated. It is expected that business levels will warrant additional flights in the future and we will adjust to meet the demand as we grow this service," he continued.

Bonner County is committed to initiating air service and has agreed to a number of provisions which include a terminal building for passenger security and comfort, snow removal for the runway, availability of a hangar and/or de-icing for aircraft and other communication tools such as the Automated Weather Observation System and the Remote Communications Outlet, which need to all be FAA approved.

Service will begin with a 9 passenger Cessna Caravan. "The Caravan is a great turbine powered aircraft, and will be able to handle all of the baggage needs for our travelers," states Rich Faletto, Sandpoint Air Service Committee member.
