Connecting Low Cost Fares with Long Haul Flights

New flight booking platform, SelfConnect, is bringing the cost of long haul travel down in 2016 by offering the option of combining low cost flights with national and commercial long-haul carriers.

Enabling Brits to book two (or more) flights to Latin America in one single transaction and with the protection of a guaranteed onward flight, SelfConnect offers huge savings on fares.

SelfConnect is of particular benefit to passengers living close to regional UK flight hubs, who are now able to avoid transit through the major London airports and enjoy far lower fares than were ever previously available to them - over 70% lower for a number of routes.

With these impressive savings, travel to Central & South America becomes much more affordable, providing the perfect excuse for Brits to discover new destinations in 2016.

With the GatwickConnects launch last year and the recent news of Ryanair entering talks with long haul carriers, the combination of low cost with long haul carriers is set to be an important new proposition in the long haul travel space.

However, whilst Ryanair is still at the drawing board and GatwickConnects is limited to passengers travelling through LGW, SelfConnect is already connecting travellers from 10 UK departure points (LGW, EDI, LPL, SEN, BRS, LTN, NCL, BFS, BHD, BHX) to 45 destinations in 14 countries throughout South & Central America, including: Colombia, Argentina, Brasil, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador, Cuba, Chile, Paraguay, Bolivia, Mexico, Uruguay, Costa Rica and El Salvador.

SelfConnect is currently working with Norwegian, Aer Lingus, Vueling and Germanwings, among others, enabling customers to take advantage of a vast network of local UK and European departures and competitive fares to connect them to far-flung destinations.

Passengers are being transferred onto SelfConnect 'Partner' flights, Aerolíneas Argentinas and Avianca, via Madrid and Barcelona. These two airlines have signed dedicated agreements with SelfConnect to guarantee onward flights for passengers in the event of a delayed earlier flight or cancellation, at no additional cost.

SelfConnect is already working on expanding the networks of Partner and Link Airlines in order to broaden the SelfConnect connectivity to more global destinations.

The unique benefits of SelfConnect include:

  1. Payment for two or more flights using different airlines and including low-cost options in one single transaction
  2. Security of a guaranteed transfer between low cost and long-haul airlines
  3. Departures from local UK airports, removing the need to transit via major hubs such as LGW or LHR
  4. Low cost short-haul flight + exclusive low fares on long haul flights = hugely competitive overall fares
  5. A live-fares booking system reflects any special offers or seasonal sale prices for both link and partner airlines
  6. SelfConnect connects previously 'disconnected' airlines or routes

About SelfConnect:

SelfConnect is a pioneering new independent online flight booking platform, offering unique benefits for business and leisure travellers.

SelfConnect's ground-breaking agreements with 'Partner' (long-haul) airlines and the ability to connect these with 'Link' (low-cost short-haul) airlines facilitate countless and unique benefits for business and leisure travellers, including: the protection of a guaranteed onward flight without being limited to more costly flight options that offer a through check-in; the ability to depart from several UK and European regional airports, removing the need to transit via major hubs such as LGW or LHR; lower prices for long-haul journeys, not only as a result of the incorporation of low-cost fares but also thanks to exclusive prices offered by the long haul carriers; and the ability to book two (or more) flights in one single transaction.

With no hidden charges, all SelfConnect prices are fully inclusive of pre-paid taxes, airport charges, service fees and other obligatory charges.

Whilst SelfConnect enables the purchase of flights in one transaction and offers a guaranteed transfer for the long haul leg of the journey, the bookings remain separate, meaning passengers need to collect luggage and check-in again at the transit airport. Customers will receive separate booking confirmations from each airline in question following ticket purchase via SelfConnect.

All SelfConnect routes operate with ample transfer time to allow passengers to comfortably disembark, collect luggage and check in for the onward flight.

SelfConnect's expert support team is available from 8am - 7pm (Mon-Fri) and 9am - 5:30pm (Sat-Sun).
