Aer Arann Announces Busiest Week Ever Nearly 30,000 Passengers Take To The Skies

Aer Arann

This week has been the busiest ever for Aer Arann since the airline began operating commercial flights in 1998. The airline carried nearly 30,000 passengers this week which is similar to the number of people displaced by the recent floods in the UK taking to the skies for a week!

Although Aer Arann flights through Dublin accounted for 30% of the traffic, there has been a marked increase in passengers travelling to the regions with Cork accounting for 25% of the traffic, Galway 20% and Waterford 10%. Increased traffic from the UK has been integral to this traffic, particularly the new Aer Arann routes opened this year from Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Cardiff and Bristol.

Colin Lewis, Head of Sales and Marketing at Aer Arann, announced: We are delighted that Aer Arann passenger figures reached an all time high this week. Weve exceeded all our expectations this year and the company really is going from strength to strength. This news is a great follow up to last months announcement that Aer Arann are now the third largest operator at Dublin Airport.

More than 1.8 million passengers traveled through Dublin Airport during the month of April 2007, a 9% increase over the same period last year, according to figures released by the Dublin Airport Authority. Aer Arann carried 47,298 customers in April, overtaking BMI in that month, and up 24% over April last year. Year to date, Aer Arann has carried 174,155 customers, also 24% up on same period last year. Over one million customers have travelled with Aer Arann across their 40 routes to 25 great destinations across Ireland, France and the UK.
