The British Guild of Travel writers has been shocked and saddened by the sudden death at the weekend of Adele Evans. 

Adele was known and much respected across a wide swathe of the travel industry for her unfailing good humour, wit, courtesy and elegance. 

As a valuable member of the Guild's committee she worked tirelessly to organise evening events for its members. 

She wrote for magazines, newspapers, websites and guidebooks, and was an occasional broadcaster. 

She loved skiing and her specialist knowledge included travel to France - she was a French graduate - and Italy. 

Funeral and/or memorial arrangements will be announced later.
