ACE Insurance Limited (ACE) has launched an initiative for passengers set to depart Sydney International Airport without travel insurance. According to market research conducted for ACE this year, at least one in five passengers heading overseas from Sydney does not have travel insurance. This is despite the Australian Government's travel advisory on smartraveller.gov.au that states: "If you can't afford travel insurance, you can't afford to travel... organising insurance is an essential part of preparing for your overseas trip."
ACE's new product ACE Trip Protect is now available from the 'last chance travel insurance' kiosk located in the Sydney Airport International Terminal after check-in, customs and duty free. Passengers can pick up ACE Trip Protect with ease as they head to their departure gate, using a system that offers the latest touch screen technology. Passengers simply select their destination, dates of travel, enter their details and pay via credit card. The policy is issued on the spot. The kiosk is staffed from 6am to 9pm, seven days a week, with insurance also still available for purchase outside of these hours.
"According to the ABS, in the year to September 2012, 2.8 million Australian residents over the age of 20 departed from Sydney International Airport.
With the new ACE kiosk, they now have an excellent opportunity to make sure they travel more safely with insurance coverage," said Giles Ward, ACE Country President, Australia & New Zealand. "Travellers covered by ACE will benefit from our 24/7 emergency assistance referral service, set up to help ACE customers if they run into trouble anywhere in the world," he said.
The kiosk will offer ACE Trip Protect, a competitively priced policy that includes cover for:
- overseas emergency medical,
- hospital and dental expenses,
- loss and delay of luggage,
- travel delay,
- rental vehicle excess,
- 24/7 emergency assistance.
Coverage is from as little as $2 a day (eg. for an adult visiting the South Pacific for 14 days). Additional winter sports cover is also available. Terms and conditions apply.
