ACE Cultural Tours is delighted to announce a new partnership with the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, along with a special tour to celebrate their bicentenary year. Our new tour for autumn 2016, Cambridge Collections: Celebrating the Fitzwilliam Museum's Bicentenary, will examine the special exhibitions and collections found in the Cambridge's university museums, with highlights including private guest lectures and behind the scenes visits.
Art historian Sarah Burles, who worked at the Fitzwilliam Museum for 12 years, will lead two departures of this tour: Sept 27–30, 2016 and November 28 – December 1, 2016. We will meet with curators and conservators, and the Museum's Director, Tim Knox, to gain unique insight into the extraordinary wealth of the Fitzwilliam's collections. In addition we will view the Museum's ground breaking bicentenary exhibition COLOUR: the art and science of illuminated manuscripts, following a special introduction by the exhibition's curator.
As Bicentenary Partner to the Fitzwilliam Museum in their special anniversary year, ACE Cultural Tours is committed to raising the profile of the Museum's world-class collection. Paul Brooke Barnes, Managing Director of ACE Cultural Tours, said “ACE Cultural Tours is delighted to support the Fitzwilliam Museum during its bicentenary year. Since the charity was founded in 1958, the Fitzwilliam's fascinating collection and exhibition programme has provided both an excellent focus point for our local study courses and inspiration for our worldwide tours.”
