Martynas Levickis has been named official Tourism Ambassador for Lithuania following his signing to Universal Music. He is a star in his native Lithuania as a world-champion accordionist and is soon to be a star the world over. The aim of this appointment is to encourage his UK fans to travel to Lithuania on holiday. Martynas is looking forward to actively promoting his home country, a destination ideal for a short city break for culture and heritage, or for outdoors and spa tourism. From the bustling and beautiful capital city of Vilnius to the seaside resort of Klaipėda and winter wonderland of Druskininkai.

Following his appointment, Martynas declared: "As a proud Lithuanian, it is a great honour to be representing my country in my new home in the UK. I look forward to continuing to share my music and introducing new people to Lithuania and its culture".

Universal Music announced the signing of world-champion accordionist and Lithuania's Got Talent 2010 winner, Martynas, on Thursday 16 May 2013. The 22-year-old, who recently graduated from London's Royal Academy of Music, is on a quest to bring new audiences to his unique instrument, and has been hailed by critics for the "cosmic richness" and "extraordinary virtuosity" of his playing. 

Paul Moseley, Managing Director of Decca Classics outlined: "Martynas is the master of an instrument lodged deep in most of our musical memories. His mission is to bring the accordion back into the mainstream where it belongs." 

2013 is a special year for both Martynas and Lithuania, as for the first time Lithuania will be taking over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union from 01 July 2013 until January 2014. To signify such a huge occasion Lithuanian Tourism Ambassador Martynas will be headlining the Lithuanian Embassy Concert on 01 July 2013 at St. John's, Smith Square, London. A string of events will also be hosted throughout Lithuania in the second half of the year to celebrate the presidency. Martynas will also be performing at the Lithuanian Cultural performance in Edinburgh on 03 October 2013 and for those fans who cannot wait until then, Martynas is performing live with his incredible band during the Wimbledon Tennis Championships from 24 June - 07 July 2013 and at the Henley Festival from 10 - 14 July 2013.
