Accor and the Lewis Land Group officially opened the new-build 78 room Mercure Hotel at The Fiddler, at Rouse Hill, with a plaque unveiling ceremony, on Friday 15 November 2019. The new modern Hotel is set to become a destination of choice for business travellers, corporates, sporting groups and families looking for convenient, contemporary accommodation at a great price in Sydney's growth corridor of the city's north west.
The Hon. Alex Hawke MP, member for Mitchell, officially opened the venue alongside CEO of Lewis Land Group, Chris Calvert and Accor's Pacific Chief Operating Officer, Simon McGrath (AO).
The Fiddler hotel precinct, where the new Mercure is located, is a major dining and entertainment hub. Owned by the Lewis Land Group, the 19th century Rouse Hill pub, underwent a major redevelopment in 2010 and has been transformed into an award winning outdoor venue for casual dining and events.
Since its soft-opening to the public in August this year, the response from locals and corporates travelling to Sydney's Hills District has been overwhelmingly positive. The hotel features a fitness centre and swimming pool and complements The Fiddler's existing entertainment precinct which boasts a wide choice of a la carte dining and beverage options, as well as new conference and business facilities.
Chris Calvert, CEO of Lewis Land Group said “We are thrilled to be officially opening The Mercure Sydney Rouse Hill, which combined with our existing Fiddler Hotel food, beverage and entertainment offer, is a highly complementary fit, and positions us as the premier “Play and Stay” venue in Western Sydney. We have recently expanded the conference and business facilities within the Fiddler to ensure that we meet the requirements of the local and business community. The Mercure Sydney Rouse Hill provides us with the accommodation component that completes the offer for both our leisure, and business clientele.”
“We are also delighted to be partnering with Accor, who are the market leader of accommodation in Australia. Their Mercure brand was the ideal fit and we were able to work together to create a hotel that is modern and contemporary, and importantly complements the existing Fiddler development” said Mr Calvert.
Designed by Architect Mostaghim & Associates, Mercure Sydney Rouse Hill hotel boasts 78 modern guest rooms, including a mix of Deluxe Rooms, Family Rooms, Suites and four rooms catering to guests with reduced mobility, spread over four floors.
Simon McGrath, Accor's Chief Operating Officer Pacific, responsible for over 400 hotels in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, French Polynesia and Hawaii said the long term vision of this site is forward thinking in this burgeoning area of Western Sydney.
“Our 4.5million loyalty members are looking for modern, dynamic product like the Mercure Sydney Rouse Hill, which is evident in the strong demand for forward bookings already showing for 2020.
“The Lewis Land Group should be very proud of the long term investment they have made into the future of tourism in Western Sydney, and we look forward to enjoying a successful partnership together,” concluded Mr McGrath.
Located just 45 minutes by car from Sydney International Airport and Sydney CBD, Chris Calvert says he's looking forward to driving even more growth to the already booming Hills District area through the versatile offerings of The Fiddler and the Mercure Sydney Rouse Hill.
“This is a strategically located asset for Lewis Land Group. We are located on one of Sydney's busiest arterial roads, directly opposite the Rouse Hill Town Centre, and close to the growing NorWest Business Park, all of which augurs well for the continued growth of The Fiddler and newly opened Mercure Sydney Rouse Hill,” concluded Mr Calvert.
Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne is excited to welcome Mercure to The Hills.
“It is wonderful to see big businesses taking steps to call The Hills Shire home,” she said.
“Welcoming businesses such as Mercure to the Sydney Hills has a very positive impact on our community, resulting in an uplift in tourism, a boost to our local economy and more jobs for our residents.
“There is also so much for Mercure guests to see, do and enjoy here. With the Sydney Metro up and running, our wonderful shopping precincts and the new Pioneer Theatre are easily accessible and make for a great day out,” Mayor Byrne added.
Guests of the hotel are able to earn points and privileges via Accor's award-winning loyalty programme - Le Club AccorHotels. The programme is free to join and can be used across more than 4,800 hotels, resorts and residences across 100 countries.
