Beijing, 10 May, 2011 – Accor, the world's leading hotel operator, is pleased to announce today that its Le Kids Warriors to the Wall 2011, a charity ride launched in partnership with Chi Heng Foundation between May 6 til 10, has come to a successful conclusion with a total of USD130,000 ( RMB 850,000 ) funds being raised..

The five day cycling campaign is the latest charity initiative undertaken by Accor as part of its long-term commitment to improving the well-being of Chinese children, especially those whose lives have been affected by Aids.

Commencing on May 6 inXi'an, the capital city of northwesternShaanxiProvince, and finishing today at the Tiananmen Square inBeijing, the ride has been a physically challenging one for all participants who have had to cover more than 500 kilometers on their bicycle over the past five days.

A total of 16 General Managers from Accor hotels across four countries from the Asia Pacific region have undertaken this year's cycling event. The riders have all been required to fund the trip by their own efforts, with each also committing to raise a minimum of US$5,000 through their own networks. During the five-day endurance ride, cyclists also visited a number of world heritage sites as well as a few well-known Chinese attractions including the ancient Terra-cotta Warriors and the Juyongguan Great Wall.

Chung To, Founder of Chi Heng Foundation, the beneficiary of the funds raised by LeKids event said “Accor is a visionary partner of Chi Heng, pioneering in the development of innovative CSR and community based programs which includes this LeKids event.  I am touched by the high spirits of the bikers who are not cyclists but hotel General Managers and whom have come from diverse geographic locations to help improve the lives of these special children inChina.  The event demonstrates Accor’s concern for underprivileged elements in the community and improving the lives of those who need it most.  My heartfelt gratitude goes to the riders who have invested so much physically and emotionally into this amazing event and to Accor for leading the way in enabling this innovative and worthy fundraising initiative.

The cycling campaign also gained support from sponsors from bothChinaand abroad. Beyond Accor, the initiator of the event, 11 other companies have contributed to the charity ride this year, including Alcatel-Lucent, Air Aroma, Cathay Pacific, Coca-Cola, Johnson Diversey, BOC Shanghai, Swire Travel,Ecolab,ChinaUnicom, Dragonair, and Air China.

Held in its first year, the Le Kids (lè, 乐 means happy in Chinese) Warriors to the Wall charity ride is the inspiration of Accor General Managers, with the goal of improving educational experiences for needy children and helping to lift their spirits.. All funds raised from the event will be directly and fully allocated to Chi Heng Foundation . The proceeds raised from the five-day campaign will be able to fund scholarships for children who have been deprived of education opportunities mainly due to Aids-caused poverty.
