Accor Hotels' Campaign Challenges Australians to Holiday at Home

Accor

Accor Hotels has launched The Greatest Australian campaign to encourage Australian residents to explore, discover and learn more about their own backyard; rather than jetting off overseas this winter.

Aussies can prove just how Australian they are by taking The Greatest Australian Online Test at www.thegreatestaustralian.com and have the chance to win a $2,000 holiday to explore Australia with Accor Hotels. Residents can also check out some great deals on offer from Accor to plan a winter escape including Stay 2 & save 20% at participating CBD hotels and free breakfast at participating regional hotels*.

International outbound figures from Australia saw a six per cent rise from January to September in 2014 with 5.5 million Australians choosing to travel overseas on holiday while Australian domestic holiday travel was weaker with trips down one per cent[1].

“With the fall in the Australian dollar making international travel more expensive, now is the best time for Aussies to start exploring their own backyard rather than someone else's,” said Simon McGrath, Chief Operating Officer Accor Pacific.

“Our Kiwi neighbours are on the verge of becoming more Aussie than Australians themselves, with more than 1.1 million New Zealanders gracing our shores in 2014, many of which have seen or learnt more about Australia than our local residents,” said Mr McGrath.

Not only are Kiwis visiting Australia in droves but in the year ending June 2014 Australia saw an eight per cent rise in international visitors to a record 6.1 million with leisure travel driving the strong growth[2].
