INDUSTRY-BACKED AMENDMENT TABLED IN PARLIAMENT. An ABTA, FTO, AITO and Co-operative Travel Trading Group -backed amendment for the Civil Aviation Bill, which would allow the Government to introduce a �1 levy to protect all air travellers flying out of the UK, has been tabled by Labour MP Brian Donohoe. The amendment will be introduced at the report stage of the Bill on Monday 10 October following which the Third Reading will be held. AGENCY DEBIT MEMOS. A revised IATA Resolution 850m - Issue and Processing of ADMs - comes into effect on 1 January 2006 and will be included in the January 2006 edition of the Travel Agent's Handbook. A summary of the IATA rules, which are now clearer and more comprehensive as a result of consultation with travel industry representatives, has been prepared by ECTAA and is attached at www.abtamembers.org/aviation/admguidelines.pdf. In the meantime, IATA agents are reminded that it is important to check ADMs as soon as they are received.
