NEW TOUR OPERATOR TOP-UP INSURANCE. ABTA has launched a new top-up insurance product for ABTA tour operators to protect them against a shortfall following the failure of an ABTA retailer. This insurance will come into effect if an ABTA tour operator needs to claim back money in excess of that allowed under our financial criteria. We've negotiated a low premium of just 3.5 percent through Advantage Financial Services, and cover can be purchased in blocks of 10,000 up to a maximum of 300,000 in any one year. Claims will be administered by Claims International. Applications for the top-up insurance can be made immediately, although the system will come into effect on 1 July 2006 when we change our level of protection to tour operators. To obtain a quotation, ABTA tour operators should contact Advantage Financial Services (afs@advantage4travel.com) on 020 7324 3938. Further information and an application form is available at www.abtamembers.org/insurance/failureindemnity.pdf
