Luxury travel company Abercrombie & Kent has just released its 2014 India, Orient & Europe brochure containing 70 fantastic and inspiring itineraries and extensions.
The 2014 collection represents an entire portfolio for the private independent traveller seeking luxury travel experiences throughout the Indian Subcontinent, Asia and Europe.
A&K Managing Director Sujata Raman comments, "While A&K's business to the Indian subcontinent remains strong, the opening of our office in Sri Lanka further cements our commitment to the region, which has seen excellent sales growth this year. Europe has also experienced close to a 40% increase on sales in bookings for 2013, with Turkey, Italy and Spain the most popular destinations. In the Orient, the big news revolves around the launch of our first luxury cruise boat, Sanctuary Ananda, in Myanmar. The first departures are scheduled for December 2014, with bookings already well underway."
A helpful tool, which has been refined this year, is the use of icons to guide the reader on the style of each journey. There are holidays for families, solo travellers, honeymooners and cruise aficionados as well as those with active content, a food or wine focus or an emphasis on culture. Each page is clearly highlighted with the appropriate icon.
What's New in the Orient?
With the buzz around travel to Myanmar at the moment, A&K's new cruise boat, Sanctuary Ananda, launches at year's end. It offers a variety of different cruises along the Ayeyarwady River and its tributary, the Chindwin, visiting places rarely seen before including the jungles of the north, forgotten villages and ancient towns near the Indian border. The 11-day Myanmar in Style journey includes a four night cruise on Sanctuary Ananda with prices from $6,435 per person.
For guests seeking to experience Myanmar in greater depth there are also three new 4-day add-ons. The Mawlamyaing Extension takes guests into the little visited Mon State east of Yangon. The ancient Chinese capital of Hangzhou returns to A&K's China portfolio, with a short visit taking in the city's glorious landscapes, tea plantations and fascinating architecture in the old town. The extension works well for guests cruising the Three Gorges on board Sanctuary Yangzi Explorer. Staying at Four Season Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake, A&K's 4-day Hangzhou Extension is priced from $2,795 per person.
What's New in India?
Offering greater choice for 2014, A&K has introduced three new add-ons to expand the breadth of product in the country. Mumbai's iconic Taj Mahal Palace Hotel features in a short exploration of this vibrant city where visits to heritage monuments, the Gandhi museum and dhobi ghats define the flavour of the place. A&K's 4-day Mumbai Extension is priced from $1,495 per person.
A delightful contrast to the sights of Rajasthan or the South is Glenburn Tea Estate near Darjeeling. A working tea plantation, guests stay in charming bungalows and immerse themselves in the day-to-day activity of the farm as well as visits to Darjeeling. A&K's 4-day Darjeeling Extension is priced from $1,125.
Travellers interested in India's palace hotels will definitely want to include Hyderabad on their list. The 400-year-old city is home to the opulent Taj Falaknuma Palace, which, after an extensive 10-year renovation, is a grand marble vision true to its palace origins. What's New in Europe?
A&K's European offering has increased by 25%, with seven new itineraries available for 2014. These include journeys to Turkey's Mediterranean coast and its most important archaeological sites. Accommodation is in a combination of luxury resort and charming village inns, with prices for the 4-day Turquoise Coast Extension from $4,025 per person including domestic flights.
France is well represented with new add-ons to Burgundy, the Cote d'Azur and Loire Valley.
Some are favourites for foodies, others for wine lovers and all fascinating culturally. A&K's 4- day Loire Valley Extension is priced from $3,395 per person.
A new journey to Sicily has been introduced focusing on the diversity of this extraordinary island. Boasting green mountains and sun-baked plains, Greek temples and Norman churches, it has a myriad archaeological sites and sandy beaches plus stylish cities. A&K's 8-day 'Splendours of Sicily' is priced from $11,315 per person.
