A "Weekend d'Exception" on July 5th and 6th 2013

Monaco Government Tourist Bureau

To celebrate its 150th anniversary, Monte-Carlo SBM creates a feast for all senses. In the very heart of the magnificent architectural heritage of the Principality and Monte-Carlo, the Société des Bains de Mer will bring together the creators of confirmed excellence in the field of hotels, gastronomy, art, music and design, and invite you to discover them over the weekend of July 5th and 6th 2013. For one night only, Monte-Carlo SBM will transform the Casino square into a pop-up garden. For one special weekend, Monte-Carlo SBM will create a feast for all senses in association with its most prestigious artists.

When creativity is expressed in beauty

The unique and unprecedented party, a social venue for all Monte-Carlo friends and visitors, will be held on the mythical Casino square, turned into a deliciously sensual Mediterranean garden, made of lawns, vines and olive trees, all beautifully staged by landscape architect Jean Mus.

When history meets culinary arts

In this evanescent garden, Chef Alain Ducasse brings his own personal touch and surprises, with the support of the chefs of the group. He imagined an original «Dîner sur l'Herbe», a tribute to the work of Edouard Manet whose masterpiece was created the same year as the Société des Bains de Mer was born. For over 25 years, it is at the Louis XV that Alain Ducasse has created a cuisine respectful of the environment, a cuisine of the essential.  His quest of the perfect produce reveals all the strength and abundance of Mediterranean cuisine. In a festive and elegant fashion, it is this freshness and immediacy that he wishes to convey to guests on Friday July 5th.

When musical styles converge

The evening will continue with a unique and eclectic concert held at the Opera Garnier. Jean-René Palacio, artistic director of the Société des Bains de Mer has gathered around the prestigious Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, Lang Lang, virtuoso pianist by excellence, Dame Shirley Bassey and Jamie Cullum, talented jazz-pop pianist.

When the dream is at everyone's fingertips

From 10 pm, the one-night garden on Casino square will be open to the public, for an animated evening of fun for all, with special surprises...

When Monte-Carlo stars in its own film

A movie will complete the party, as an ephemeral garden extends to the Casino terraces, and slips into the marvellous « Monte-Carlo fait son cinéma ». This original film is an emotional flashback into the audio-visual cinematographic history of Monaco. It has been created by the students of the cinema school Factory based in Lyon. Open to the public, every evening, all through the summer.

When the terrace of the Opera becomes a sound garden

To complete the acoustic theme that Michel Redolfi, composer and musician, created for this exceptional open-air cinema experience at the foot of the Opera, the terrace will be transformed into a magical seating area where all summer long, the general public can immerse themselves into the natural sounds of the Principality, alongside the film track. Comfortably seated in contemporary designed relaxing chairs with integrated speakers, the viewer is led into an outdoor auditory, acoustic and sensorial voyage.

And to continue on Saturday, 6th July

When diamond and bamboo converge

The surprising alchemy between precious and natural, between nature and technology, between the expertise that makes up all the beauty of Société des Bains de Mer heritage can be found in the Fernando & Humberto Campana exhibit.

Open to the public from 6th through 20th July in the Sporting d'Hiver.

When Rock'n'Roll takes over the Sporting Monte-Carlo

Rod Stewart will be guest of honour on Saturday, 6th July, and launch the festivities of the Monte-Carlo Sporting Summer Festival, performing at the Salle des Etoiles following the gala dinner.

On the occasion of its 150th anniversary, Monte-Carlo SBM so desires to extend the dream, perpetuate the wonderful and renew the art of entertaining.

A Celebration created to stimulate all the senses, closing on Saturday with a magnificent firework display.
