The Dequeker family is delighted to introduce their new management couple at Hotel Schönegg in Wengen, Bernese Oberland, Switzerland. Caroline Ogi and husband Sylvain Stefanazzi Ogi will be relocating to Wengen from Zermatt, to coincide with the start of the new ski season which starts on 18 December 2015.

Caroline will be taking over the position of General Manager from Phillipe Allenspach, who was at the hotel for just over 3 years.   Caroline is a well-known personality in Switzerland as the daughter of Katrin and Adolf Ogi, who was the President of Switzerland in 1993 and 2000.  Caroline followed her heart and chose a career in the hospitality industry, inspired by her 2 Grandmothers.  She studied Hotel Management and her previous positions include Manager of Café Bar 1900 in Crans-Montana, Sales Manager at Beau-Rivage Palace and Director Sales & Marketing at Suisse-Majestic Montreux. For the Olympic Games in Vancouver both Caroline and Sylvain managed the House of Switzerland, before moving to the world famous Zermatt, where she and Sylvain managed the Walliserhof Resort for the past five years. In her spare time she enjoys skiing, ski touring, mountaineering, travelling, food & wines.  Which means she will be very well-placed in Wengen!

Sylvain will be taking over the reins as Head Chef of the hotel's exquisite restaurant.  Sylvain grew up with his 2 brothers in the Swiss Alps in Crans-Montana, where his Italian father is a carpenter and his mother has an antique Shop.  He started his apprenticeship as a cook more than 20 years ago, and has worked in many prestigious kitchens including Badrutt's Palace, Lausanne Palace, Grand Hotel Suisse-Majestic Montreux, Ristorante Murano London and Hotel Walliserhof Zermatt.  He has a passion for food and one of his Chef idols is Benoît Violier in Crissier, Switzerland.  He loves ice Hockey, skiing, ski touring, Food & wines.

This beautiful boutique hotel is idyllically located in Switzerland's unique Jungfrau region, near the highest train station in Europe. The hotel itself is one of the oldest buildings in Wengen, with just 20 rooms, conveniently situated on the main road, only a 5 minute-walk from the train station and 2 minutes from the cable car station. Wengen is a friendly and utterly charming mountain village, with no car access so it is traffic free, making it the perfect mountain escape.
