Brighton's premier boutique hotel, Drakes, is on a roll…they have received three prestigious national accolades in the same week - each for a different offering within the well-established luxury hotel.
The Restaurant at Drakes has received deserved recognition for their quality and high standards in the recently published “The Good Food Guide 2018”. Drakes was awarded the highest score bestowed to any Brighton restaurant again this year - making this their ninth consecutive year to feature in this highly respected “bible” of UK Fine dining. This significant achievement is depicted in the Guide as “exact cooking techniques and a degree of ambition; showing balance and depth of flavour in dishes.”
The accolade was clearly attributed to the evident talent, flair and creative skill of Chef Andy Vitez, who was promoted to Head Chef two years ago after five years as Sous Chef at Drakes and has taken the restaurant to new levels of excellence.
This week, The Bar at Drakes was also shortlisted in IMBIBE Magazine Awards for “Gin List of the Year”. Given the popularity that gin is receiving in Bars and Bistros in the UK currently made this a tough list to be included on, due to the stiff competition. The list at Drakes is comprehensive, including local gins and from around the world, presenting them in clearly defined flavours and properties and followed up by their recommended best gin-to-tonic serve and a selection of cocktails.
Bartender Tom Gabb, also relatively new to the hotel, brought a breath of fresh air to Drakes with his knowledge, passion and friendly disposition when he started just over a year ago. He has entered several competitions already and was recently shortlisted in the Black Cow Vodka International competition. The Bar at Drakes is enjoying a surge of new guests as Tom's reputation for creative and quality libations is setting new standards in the city.
Despite the excellence of the food and beverage offering at the luxury listed hotel, it is the fabulous guest rooms which Drakes is most well known for. Arguably the most romantic hotel in Brighton, with hand-made beds and stunning sea views, it is no wonder that this beautiful 4-star boutique hotel has been shortlisted as “The Best Place to Sleep” in The Brighton and Hove Food Festival Awards announced this week.
General Manager, Richard Hayes commented “We are absolutely delighted that Drakes has received these three accolades in such close succession. This highlights the excellence of each department which has made Drakes one of the top hotels in Brighton. These significant accolades are a tribute to the accomplishments and commitment of our hard working, dedicated teams and it's wonderful to receiv this recognition once again."
