The contemporary Le Saint James Hotel, located 15 minutes from central Bordeaux, in the village of Bouliac boasts its own vineyard, a heated outdoor swimming pool, a Michelin starred chef and cookery school, Côté Cours. Their new Spring foodie getaway includes a two night stay with a five course Michelin starred dinner, a three course dinner in their traditional French bistro, transfers to and from the city centre on one day of the stay, a cooking lesson and the all important wine tasting!
Guests will be given a VIP welcome of freshly made pastries and a bottle of the hotel's own wine Vin Du Jardin on arrival. The stylish hotel was designed by iconic French architect Jean Nouvel to make the most of the space and natural light available. The focal point for all 18 bedrooms are the stunning views, with each bed in line with the expansive windows, providing panoramic views over the hotel's vineyards, the River Garonne and Bordeaux in the distance.
Guests will enjoy a five course gastronomic meal for two created by Michelin starred chef, Nicholas Magie, in the hotel's restaurant which is widely regarded to be one of the best in the region. Options on his seasonal menus include "Scallop in different textures, Jerusalem artichoke lime & hazelnut" and "Breast of pigeon "Mrs Leguen" Roasted with a long necklace of Chickpeas, caramel of citrus fruit & endive".
The hotel's own French bistro, Café de l'Espérance, is located a two minute walk from the hotel within the village. The 'buffet des desserts' at the bistro is something that locals and visitors in the know travel from far and wide to experience, with homemade options such as chocolate éclairs and a creme brûlée that are simply unrivalled.
The wine tasting experience for two will take place with the hotel's sommelier, Richard Bernard who is one of the most highly respected Sommeliers in France. Richard takes guests on a journey through the history of wine in France, tasting some of the finest wines from the surrounding Chateaux's and beyond, including the hotel's own Merlot wine Le Vin Du Jardin; and explaining how Bordeaux became the wine capital of the world.
As well as wine tasting, guests are invited to take part in a cooking lesson in the state of the art cookery school, Côté Cours. The fun, yet very insightful and productive lessons are hosted by one of the very talented and passionate chefs from the hotel.
The fun and relaxed cooking classes take place in the cookery school, "Côté Cours" and can be tailored according to the varying abilities of delegates. Budding cooks are taught skills such as how to prepare fresh scallops and lobster, to make simple, yet colourful and creative dishes to be enjoyed in the cookery school with a glass of wine.
Transfers to and from the City of Bordeaux on one of the days of the stay are also included. The main shopping street the Rue Sainte-Catherine is a must visit, and a walk along the picturesque River Garonne is a wonderful experience. The Museum of Modern Art is highly acclaimed, and guests should make sure they leave time to explore the many sophisticated, independently owned restaurants and bars.
Visitors can then retreat back to the hotel to relax in the bar in front of the open log fire, or sit on one of the benches on the terrace under the fairy lights soaking up the tranquility and breathtaking views over the lights of Bordeaux.
