About Malaysian Sautéed Petai with Sambal, Pork Belly, Squid and Dried Fish
Despite its unique flavour and strong smell, petai (known as “sting beans”) is a “must-try” food in Malaysia. It is commonly fried with Sambal, one of the signature hot sauces/pastes in Malaysian cuisine, alongside with other seasonal products. Sambal is typically made from a mixture of chili peppers, plus shrimp paste, fish sauce, garlic, ginger, shallots, scallion, palm sugar, lime juice, and rice vinegar.
