A recent survey undertaken by The Gambia Experience reveals positive results of customers' perceptions of The Gambia.

The survey respondents are customers who travelled to The Gambia with the tour operator between 2013/14 and 2015/16 and include package, flight only, first timers and repeat customers. The aim of the survey was to better understand customer perceptions of the country, as well as booking patterns, repeatability and their decision making process.

Key findings show that overall; customers have a very positive perception of The Gambia, with an overwhelming 71% describing the country as 'a friendly and welcoming destination'. This strongly supports Gambia's strapline as 'the smiling coast of West Africa'.

Unsurprisingly, the survey also concluded that weather was the top factor considered when choosing a holiday destination, followed by choice of accommodation and activities and excursions.

Further conclusions of the survey highlighted customer loyalty, citing that 58% of respondents would consider returning to The Gambia, and the leading reason for customers not wishing to return was due to wanting to discover new destinations (14%).
