A Soft Adventure in the Canadian Rockies

ECT Travel's Autumn Train Journey Through the Canadian Rockies to Vancouver is a 12-day journey of discovery created for those who love to explore the world's wilder places without compromising on comfort or accessibility. Meticulously planned and accompanied by one of our experienced Tour Managers, it is proving particularly popular with the over 50s and solo female travellers, demographics which are leading the booming demand for soft adventures.

Awe-inspiring adventures to look forward to:

  • A journey onto the ancient Athabasca Glacier aboard a specially designed Ice Explorer.
  • A cruise on the glacial Lake Minnewanka showcasing its dramatic rocky shorelines and forested slopes.
  • A walk along the trail beside Lake Louise, known as the 'Jewel of the Rockies' for its striking turquoise waters backed by towering peaks and ancient glaciers.
  • A visit to the Maligne Valley, an area renowned for its wildlife viewing opportunities and dramatic geology, and a cruise on the blue waters of Maligne Lake, one of the largest natural lakes in the Rockies.
  • A guided outdoor Wildfire Peak-Nic experience that blends light hiking, storytelling and a scenic picnic-style lunch in the heart of Jasper National Park.
  • A story-telling evening around a campfire with Matricia Brown of Warrior Women.
  • A guided sunrise Rocky Mountains wildlife tour.
  • A stargazing experience at Jasper Planetarium, an area with protected Dark Sky Preserve status.
  • An overnight journey aboard VIA Rail's 'The Canadian', travelling through the Canadian Rockies, remote wilderness, river valleys and mountain passes to Vancouver.

Pampering treats that await:

  • Four nights at Banff Park Lodge where modern alpine design comes with all mod cons and a hot tub, steam room and indoor pool allow you to recharge at the end of the day.
  • Afternoon tea at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, a grand hotel built in the golden age of rail travel, with the opportunity to pamper body and soul in the spa.
  • The chance travel through some of the most remote and spectacular landscapes in the world from the elegant comfort of The Canadian, one of North America's most iconic long-distance passenger trains.
  • A night in Vancouver, staying at the Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront, located just steps from the best of downtown Vancouver with stunning views and first-class cuisine.
  • An ECT Tour Manager to take care of all the logistics
