Scheduled September Opening of new Dinosaur Museum in Alberta

On track for a Fall 2015 opening with a soft opening scheduled for September 2 - 3, the new Philip . Currie Dinosaur Museum, near Grande Prairi in Wembley, Alberta will tell the 360 million year story of pre history. Exhibits will include five newly named dinosaurs from Alberta that have never been seen before as reconstructions.

The museum is  only a short distance away from one of the densest dinsosaur bone bed find sites in thew orld. The Pioestone Creek bone bed holds the fossils of previously unknown species; Pachyrhinosaurus Lakusti - a horned dinosaur plus hadrosaurs (duck billed), tyranosaurs (predatory), nodosaurs (armoured) , plesiosaurs (marine reptiles) and pteosaurs (flying reptiles).

The museum is named after Dr. Philip J. Currie, world renowned scientist and research chair in palaeontology at the University of Alberta.

New Trail of Good Cheer opening June 1st

Opening June 1st in Nova Scotia, this new Trail, The Good Cheer Trail, s the first of its kind in Canada . It will showcase the best of beer, wine and spirits at over 30 locations across the province of Nova Scotia, paired with local art and cuisine throughout the year.

From Yarmouth to Cape Breton, the trail weaves through  landscapes, heritage sites, beaches and cities , as well as through rolling farmlands. Trail participants can chart their own route and mark  progress with a Good Cheer Trail passport in hand.

The Trail is named after the Order of Good Cheer, started in 1606 by Samuel de Champlain, to provide good hospitality to pioneer during the colonisation of Nova Scotia. It is the oldest social club in North America

No Smoking - Anywhere - at Whistler Blackcomb

Whistler Blackcomb will introduce a new smoke free policy on May 31st , 2015. It will prohibit smoking anywhere on Whistler Blackcomb property , including lift lines, chairlifts, gondolas, ski runs, hiking trails, valley base area, parking lots, Whistler Mountain Bike Park Trails and all Whistler Blackcomb bar and restaurant locations, including patios.

"We have made the decision to introduce a  smoke free policy at Whistler Blackcomb to preserve the pristine alpine environment for our guests", says Dave Brownlie, President of Whistler Blackcomb. " We have a responsibility to our guests and staff to provide a safe and healthy environmentfor work and play. We believe implementing this new policy aligns with this goal".

New Boutique hotel set to open in Montreal

Hotel Mount Stephen will breathe new life into a former 1920's social club premises and incorporate the building's original neo classical architecture with modern touches. Once complete, this luxury five star boutique property will feature floor to ceiling windows in all of its 90 guestrooms with sky lofts , some with private terraces. An urban spa, two bars, restaurant and 3 banquet halls accommodating up to 500 guests will complete the facilities on offer. The hotel is situated close to boutiques and major Montreal museums.  The hotel is scheduled to open later this year

Although yet to open the hotel has already gained its first award. It was described as "innovative and dynamic" by the jury of the 45th edition of the Canadain Architect Awards of Excellence in December 2012.

Grande Dame  on Vancouver Island undergoes Refit

Renovations are ongoing at the Fairmont Hotel Empress, in Victoria , Vancouver Island. The classic 'castle' hotel was purchased last yaer and the new owner, Vancouver based developer Nat Bosa, has committed to an investment of $30 million to restore the hotel to its former glory. The extensive work will include window repairs, airconditioning improvements, new lighting, new furniture and full upgrades to all 477 of its rooms. The project is to be completed in 2 years time.Notable recent changes to the 107 yaer old property include the removal of a few trees and a hedge with the intention of opening up more of the hotels extensive lawns.
