Trafalgar releases its new 2014 South American itineraries with an expected surge due to the FIFA World Cup in Brazil
Singapore, October 2013 - South America is one of the fastest growing travel destinations of the past few years, and Trafalgar (www.trafalgar.com), the Insider of guided holidays is pleased to announce the launch of their 2014 South America brochure that also includes Mexico, Costa Rica and Panama.
With an increased growth of 80% in the past year, Trafalgar has seen exponential demand for travel to South America. 'With an increase desire for new aspirational destinations, South America is, without a doubt, the new frontier for Asians. 'says Nicholas Lim, Regional Director of Trafalgar Asia. 'We further anticipate another surge in volume, especially with the 2014 FIFA World Cup round the corner in Brazil. Football fans could also do a pre or post tournament trip to these surrounding destinations to maximize their time in the region.'
Besides taking guests to world renowned locations such as Sugar Loaf Mountain in Rio De Janeiro, Machu Picchu in Peru and the Iguassu Falls in Paraguay, for 2014 Trafalgar takes guests on a unique journey through up and coming destinations such as the UNESCO site of Los Glaciares National Park in Argentina to view 4400km worth of Glaciers, the Colca Canyon in Peru which is the world's deepest canyon, and the Cotopaxi National Park in Ecuador which is the site of an active volcano.
Trafalgar's award winning insider experiences have been translated from its Europe and North America itineraries for the South American product, so guests will enjoy all the quality inclusions that is synonymous with the brand. Peru's Andean Explorer
Trafalgar's new 13-day Peru Andean Explorer takes travellers to some of the most interesting cities and villages in South America, and spends a couple of nights in the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. Starting and ending in Lima, guests will also visit Cusco, Puno, Colca Canyon and Arequipa along the way, with Trafalgar's Local Experts to lead sightseeing in each city. To start the trip, travellers will delight in an exclusive Be My Guest lunch at the lovely colonial estate of Dr. Diez Canseco, who will guide a tour through the property before sitting down to a homemade lunch of Peruvian dishes. In Cusco, travellers are treated to a special presentation from Local Expert Peter Frost, an English author and archaeologist, who will discuss Inca archaeology, and at Lake Titicaca they'll board a cruise on the serene waters with a Local Expert who will teach them about the myths and marvels of the lake. In between the incredible sightseeing that Trafalgar offers in each destination, guests also take in some of the region's Local Specialties, as they watch artisan weavers at work and visit a chicheria to taste the delicious drink. Sure to be favourite highlights of this itinerary, however, are the Authentic Accommodations that Trafalgar has introduced as a new feature in this year's brochure. As accommodations chosen for their unique significance to the local area, guests will stay at the 5-star Casa Andina Private Collection hotels in Arequipa and Cusco, winners of Trip Advisor's 2013 Travelers' Choice Awards. The Arequipa property is a colonial mansion situated in the heart of the city, and inhabits the Mint House, a national historical monument.
Colourful Trails of Ecuador
The 10-day Colourful Trails of Ecuador takes guests from north to south at one of the world's hottest travel destinations of the moment. Starting in Quito and ending in Guayaquil, guests also spend nights in Otavalo, Banos, Riobamba and Cuenca. This itinerary features a number of dining highlights, such as in Cayambe, en route to Quito, travellers stop for a special Be My Guest lunch of Ecuadorian specialties at Hacienda la Compania, a family home situated on a rose plantation. There are more opportunities for guests to sample the tastes of Ecuador, as Trafalgar offers a number of Local Specialties on this trip, from a visit to a cacao plantation in El Cajas to a chance to make Banos' famous sugary candy called melcocha. On a trip to the Equatorial Line, Trafalgar guests meet an Ecuadorian chocolate-maker and savour the tasty treats before enjoying a Highlight Dinner of local cuisine and lively entertainment. This trip also features an Authentic Accommodation, this time in Otavalo, where guests check in to Hacienda Cusin, one of the oldest haciendas founded in 1602 with beautifully decorated guest rooms carefully preserving the historic ambiance. Mixed in with all the great Insider Experiences that Trafalgar offers is incredible sightseeing, like a ride on the Devil's Nose Train down the steep mountainside, a visit to the active volcano in Cotopaxi National Park and a stroll through the flower markets in Cuenca.
